Become debt free with government help
The Debt Relief Order (DRO) is a new debt solution introduced by the government on 6 April 2009. Debt Relief Orders are aimed at people living in England and Wales and can provide debt relief if:
- Your total unsecured debts do not exceed £15,000.
- You have no more than £300 of net assets.
- Your disposable income does not exceed £50 a month.
- You're not involved in another formal insolvency procedure such as an IVA.
To enter into a DRO, you pay £90 to the Insolvency Service. You will normally apply for a DRO online (with the assistance of an approved debt advisor to act as an intermediary).
If your DRO is granted, your creditors are not allowed to take any action to recover their money from you over a year. Your debts will be written off at the end of that year. For a free assessment, contact us today on 0800 881 8891. Alternatively apply online for help.
